One of the most exciting things to happen to the future of youth golf development at Aston Wood for many years has been introduced to the club by the Pro Staff with the intention of welcoming as many new juniors and future members as possible through a nationwide scheme called Young Masters Golf, or YMG for short.
> So just what is YMG? YMG is a programme developed by a team of highly experienced PGA professional golfers to provide the ultimate solution for young people who want to play golf. Specially designed for kids aged 6 to 16 years, the YMG Junior Golf Programme provides the perfect introduction to golf, showing them everything they need to know to enjoy playing for the rest of their lives. Children learn about all the different clubs, shots, rules and, importantly, the high standards of etiquette that the game requires. The YMG Programme is designed to inspire and motivate children to not only start but also continue playing golf. As they progress through the course students will learn and improve, through challenging but exciting course work, achievable goals and realistic targets set by Simon. It is designed to be fun and enjoyable! > What to expect from YMG? There are five stages to the YMG programme: Cadets, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Masters. When students first start as a Cadet, they receive a YMG binder, allowing them to chart their progress through the various exciting stages of the YMG Programme up to Masters, as well as a unique membership number. Simon and Matt will be around to help whenever children need it, but outside hours students will also be able to access the YMG website in addition to the course itself, and e-mail the YMG team via the website. Part of the commitment YMG makes is to provide competitions and events of the highest standard so that students can pitch their skills against other youngsters from many different areas in the years ahead. YMG is also working continually to add to the network of junior friendly clubs and golf facilities throughout the country, so that, as a YMG member, should you wish to go and play at another course in the future, you know you will be warmly welcomed. > How YMG works? Now that you know Aston Wood is your nearest YMG-approved golf centre, ring the Pro Shop or pop along and see Simon or Matt, who will happily provide extra details if you need them or a registration form if you want to sign on. They will be able to tell you when your Cadets course will start and then you can look forward to starting your great golfing adventure. - The Cadets course runs for eight sessions of one hour |
